Goddess Energy
Goddess Energy: Awakening the Divine Feminine Within
There is a shift happening. You may already feel it.
More and more women are being called - sometimes quietly, sometimes urgently - to step more fully into their power. To lead from the heart. To bring balance, harmony and love into a world that needs it deeply.
This is not a new calling. It is an ancient one. And it is at the heart of what the goddess energies represent.
Everything Is Energy - And It All Begins With Shakti
Before we can understand the goddesses, it helps to understand where all energy comes from.
In the yogic tradition, all of creation - every living thing, every form, every pulse of life - arises from Shakti. Shakti means power. Shakti is the essence of all living things, the creative force behind all of existence. Without Shakti, there is no life.
But Shakti does not act alone. Her counterpart is Shiva - the masculine aspect of the divine, the holder of consciousness and awareness. When Shakti dances within the space that Shiva holds, all of creation is born. Together they represent the perfect union of the feminine and masculine - not in opposition, but in sacred partnership.
Shakti herself has five faces - five expressions of her power. She has the power to be conscious. The power to know. The power to act. The power of free will and desire. And the power to feel ecstasy. These five qualities live within every woman - waiting to be remembered and embodied.
The Goddesses and What They Embody
Within the vast tradition of the divine feminine, three goddesses stand out as particularly potent archetypes for our time.
Durga - The Goddess of Fierceness Durga is the warrior goddess - fierce, empowered and unstoppable. She gives us the courage and strength to face our inner challenges, dissolve our blocks, and heal what has been holding us back. When you need empowerment, call on Durga.
Lakshmi - The Goddess of Abundance Lakshmi is often associated with wealth - but her gifts go far beyond the material. She is the goddess of all forms of abundance: love, kindness, compassion, beauty and grace. She helps us open to receiving in every dimension of life.
Saraswati - The Goddess of Wisdom Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, creativity and expression. She loves music, art, dance and learning. She is the muse, the teacher, the creator. When you want to deepen your wisdom or unlock your creative gifts, Saraswati is your guide.
The Celebration of Navaratri
In India, the celebration of these goddess energies reaches its peak during Navaratri - nine nights of singing, dancing, prayer and devotion to the divine feminine. For nine consecutive nights, a different aspect of the goddess is honored, celebrated and invoked. It is considered one of the most powerful spiritual celebrations of the year.
This ancient tradition reminds us that the goddess energies are not abstract concepts. They are living, breathing qualities available to each of us - through practice, through devotion, through mantra and through the simple act of showing up and saying yes.
A Personal Reflection
The Dalai Lama has said that the Western woman will save the world. My own beloved teacher from the Oneness University in India has echoed this for years - that it is up to women to step up and bring balance back.
I have sat with those words for a long time. And I believe they are true.
Not because women are better than men. But because the qualities of the divine feminine - compassion, intuition, emotional depth, the capacity to feel and to connect - are precisely what this moment in history calls for. We do not need more force. We need more heart.
Embodying the goddess energies is one of the most direct and beautiful paths I know to stepping fully into that role.
